The mental health team has been conducting life-skills classes in this government high school at Jalahanjar village, beginning from October last year 2018. After months of intentionally arriving early, coaxing the students into sweeping the room, requesting their help in moving the furniture, reminding them to bring papers to sit on, and attend the classes on time; 5 months/ 6 classes later, yesterday the team was greeted with this pleasant surprise.
We arrived early and walked into the classroom and words failed us. Surely the rug on the clean swept floor, open windows and the organised furniture tell a tale of change. One of changed attitudes and mindsets. Of students looking forward to learning and valuing people and time. A tale of hope for Jalahanjar and its neighboring villages.
